Victoria is our last baby for the year. She has had a rough start in this world. We had to syringe feed her for the first 14 hours since she couldn't figure out how to latch on to her mom's milk bottle. She is fine now and is a sweet little girl. Her name reflects her early struggle for survival. Out of two small parents she will likely not get very big.

Another little baby that arrived while I was watching another jenny on the monitor. He arrived 9 days early to an experienced wonderful moma - one of my favorite jennies. He is a small, stocky, very nice colored foal with a nice colored background - including Circle C Little Motown in his dam's lineage added to Jolly's extensive background.

What a surprise when my husband woke me up to tell me that I should put the baby up before it starts raining (the only rain forecasted in almost 2 months)! She wasn't due for another three weeks and I was watching another jenny on the monitor when this little girl arrived outside. What she is lacking in color considering her parents' colors and background she is certainly not lacking in conformation! She is beautiful!!! Stocky, drafty and heavy boned and straight - even as a newborn! She is a full sister to Little Friends Red Ruby (red/sorrel) that we have retained for our breeding herd. She has 726 ancestors in her donkey tree and boasts a variety of color with lots of red on both sides of her pedigree.

This little boy had a speedy delivery and was up on his legs before his mom was. He is our last baby until late October when we should have 2 more jennies to foal. Tango is built solidly and is very straight as most of Jolly's foals are. He tried to buck and run at not even 2 hours of age. He has a variety of color in his background including spots, red, brown and gray. He has close to 500 ancestors in his known predigree.

The timing of this little girl's birth was a total surprise to us since we purchased her mother as possibly bred for 2005. We didn't realize the impending birth until the very day this tiny baby was born. Her birth was unusual as well since her mother decided to stand up when the baby was 3/4 of the way delivered and I had to physically support the baby. She is finally starting to have a little bit more energy at 2 days of age. I am soooo greatfull that Tina is such a good mother at such a young age.

Mayson is another light red son of Jolly.  Fancy didn't waste any time teaching him his feeding schedule. He has learned quickly to stay away from Fancy's back end and swishing tail. I had to fish him out of the water bucket once as a result. He looks like Little Pinkster and together may make a good driving team in the future.  He has 331 ancestors in the donkey tree.

Cappuccino is the first of three little jacks. I was watching two jennies on the monitor - but not Candie since she didn't look that ready. She just snug him in. He is a cutie and looks very much like Candie when she was a baby. He is proportioned nicely and with two very nice parents we only expect him to turn out nicely as well. He should remain small. His pedigree goes back to the Sardinian imports and Circle C Little Motown (black)  with a variety of color and lots of red!

Lady Bug is the smallest baby born on our farm. One could just scoop her up under one arm. She has beautiful color with a broken dark shoulder stripe on one side. Her eye-patches, ears and behind her ears look red. Her back is also very uniquely colored - it looks like someone took an eraser and just erased the color off of her back (stripe and all) across the middle and also her mane right behing her ears. She has black eye lashes on one side and white ones on the other. She looks as if she is wearing Mascara. What a cute, tiny baby she is!

And our fourth daytime baby this foaling season. Rinaldo is a cute little gray jack foal out of two small parents. When he was born he looked like he was wearing a hood. He was wearing a piece from the bag he was in right on top of his head. He was up and nursing quickly. He is a nicely conformed and square little guy with a beautiful light gray color. I love his very black muzzle (just like his mom) with just a band of white around it. Like Happy's first foal he has a super sweet personality and doesn't know a stranger at just a day old. He loves to pass under his dam's belly and between her legs and she just freezes to accommodate and not hurt her baby.

Some of the well known ancestors in his pedigree are Valintino 75 (Red Baron), Valintino 49 (Winchester), Philamina 34, Throwback to Blue, Theseus, Parentheses, Queen Isabella, Luigi 95, Blue's Blue, Philamina 48 and 79 - going back to the original imports of Cristofo Colombo on his dam's side and LN stock, Valintino 50, Arbor Ledge Little Red and many others on his sires side, also going back to the imports. As far as we can tell at just a day - old - he looks to be show quality.

Windy had a stormy entry into this world! We had high winds, dark clouds and she was born in the middle of it. She almost literally hit the ground running.... she is the first baby that was up on her legs before her mother and never fell down once trying. Windy is a friendly little girl with a red shine all over (Jolly's color influence). At 24 hours she is already trying to chew little pieces of hay.  She is our first baby for the season. You can guess how she got her name.
