Little Friends Jolie

Date of Birth: 14. October 2011

Birth Height:

Foal Coat Color: Dark Brown  - bay pattern

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2" Red

Dam: Little Friends Kyacera

        32 3/4" Black w. Cross

First time mom Kyacera did a great job with this little one - the last baby for the year. She arrived all by herself within minutes and found the milk right away. Kya was very accommodating and is a wonderful and loving mom. She loves her baby so much that she is just tolerating us touching her - she does not like for us to touch her baby but she has grown up here with us herself and knows that it is OK. She always keeps her head right where our hands are so that she knows everything that is going on. Jolie is an extremely lively little girl and loves to run and play tack with Kaduna.

Sire: Ass-Pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" Light Red

Diamond and Jolly again did a wonderful job with this little girl. Kaduna is simply beautiful in color as well as in built. I just want to hug her all of the time. What else can I say?

Little Friends Jed                                                                  - Sold -

Date of Birth: 14. Sept 2011

Birth Height:

Foal Coat Color: light red

Sire: Ass-Pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" Light Red

Dam: MJB Hot Pink

        32 1/4" Light Red

Hot Pink had another beautiful little boy. He had a little bit of a wobble in his head first but after two weeks it is almost gone. We only see it now when he gets really excited or if something startles him. We do not know what caused it since Hot Pink has had only perfect foals with Jolly before. We will therefore be only selling Jed as a pet (no breeding).

Foal Coat Color: Dark Brown

Sire: Ass-Pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" Light Red

Dam: Little Friends DK Mocha's Girl

        32 1/2" Dark Brown

Madeira wanting some attention!

Little Friends Sunny

Date of Birth: 29. July 2011

Birth Height:

Foal Coat Color: Rose Dun/Light Brown/Dark Gray (hard to tell)

Sire: Ass-Pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" Light Red

Dam: Little Friends Lucky Charm

        33" Brown/Gray Dun

Another first at the Little Friends Ranch. Sunny and Madeira came into this life at the same time literally just a couple of feet apart. Their mom's are best friends and did everything together including having their babies. Both babies are beautiful and loving little girls! When we found them - moms were still laying down about 2 feet apart and both babies were already born. I just couldn't believe my eyes when I found them and moms were so accepting. I carried one baby at a time into stalls right next to each other and the moms just followed me.

Little Friends Little Lovebug

Date of Birth: 14. May 2011

Birth Height: 20 1/2" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Brown - bay pattern

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2" Red

Dam: Little Friends Burindi

        32 3/4" Brown

Another first time mom - Burindi had her baby outside in the rain! Again, no signs of impending birth - otherwise she wouldn't have been outside with a chance for severe storms. We found her when we got up Saturday morning following her mom around the lot. She is a small baby and all girl! She loves attention and to be cuddled all over - I sometimes call her little "Lovebug!" We therefore decided to name her just that! Isabella the first day seemed to not really know what to do with her baby. She let her nurse but she didn't look quiet comfortable - We only let her out with Nila - the other inexperienced mom and they learned to take care of their babies together. We had been worried that she wouldn't adequately protect her new baby from the others. She learned quickly and now you couldn't ask for a better mom.

Little Friends Midoo                                                                - Sold -

Date of Birth: 13. May 2011

Birth Height: 22 1/4" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Light Red with white hair on forehead

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2" Red

Dam: Little Friends Nila

         33" Brown

This little boy arrived at 6:45 AM on Friday the 13th! Nila decided to have him in the shelter that gets cleaned out every day but is still not as clean as I would like a baby to be born in. She is a first time mom and my husband ended up helping her a little bit since she seemed wore out. Both mom and baby layed there what seemed to be forever. Nila finally got up and was more interested in the hay the baby was laying on than in her baby. We took the baby inside and no way was she going to follow him into the barn. We had to halter her and bring her in. In the barn, too she wasn't very interested in him. Now she was more interested in the straw we put down for them since I didn't give her any hay until she would take care of her baby. He had a hard time finding his feet and he is the first baby that I actually ended up helping to get up. He just could not figure out how to get his front legs up - only his butt came up.  Once he was on his feet he was fine. Finally Nila got interested in him when she saw him struggling standing. She started licking him and all was well. A short time later he found his milk bottle. It took Nila a couple of days to become really protective of him - she is a great mom now. He loves to wiggle around people's legs for attention. What a cute little guy he is!

And another cute little boy that just looks like Brazil's little boy - they could pass as twins. TJ arrived at a little after 11 Am - the third daytime baby in a row.  Baby Doll is a very sweet and patient mom and TJ is very sweet and an energetic little guy.

         32" Gray-Dun/Rose-Dun

Mali also had her little boy in the middle of the day. He arrived at 1 PM - I had watched her for a couple of days but knew she couldn't go any longer. Zeno is a cute gray baby jack with the traditional cross on his back. Mali as always is a wonderful mom.

Little Friends Alejandro                                                    - Sold -

Date of Birth: 07. May 2011

Birth Height: 22 1/2" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Rose Dun or Very Light Red

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2" Red

Dam: Little Friends Powder Puff

         34" Gray-Dun/Rose-Dun w. star

Alejandro was born sometime between 2:00 - 4:00 PM after a much needed break for me. I had to be away from the farm for a few hours that day and when I came back home there was a new baby walking around in the lot. Alejandro is a sweet boy and he has beautiful color. He is either a very, very light red or a rose dun. His mother is rose dun and his dad is red. He has the same extensive light points as his mother. I thought I had more pictures of him but realized that I don't when I got them off my camera.

Little Friends Tito                                                               - Sold -

Date of Birth: 29. April 2011

Birth Height: 24" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: dark brown

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2" Red

Dam: Little Friends Daisy

         33" Dark Spotted

Then we checked out where the grunts came from - I was worried sick that one had colic or was in pain for some other reason. Daisy was on the ground - which had been a familiar sight over the past few days since her feet were bothering her and it was hot outside. I had been putting her up into the barn lot for several nights before so that she could lay down in the sawdust and not on the harder ground but that evening the barn lot was occupied by three girls that seemed much closer to foaling than Daisy. Daisy had no change in her milk bag that evening - just looked like she had looked for the two previous weeks already. She seemed pretty tired and my husband helped her out a little bit. Out came the longest, thickest legs - a "big", boy! When my husband picked him up to carry into the barn he couldn't believe how heavy this baby was. No wonder that Dottie felt miserable for a week before she foaled. Tito is a beautiful, big boy and he has all kinds of stripes on his dark legs. He is probably our biggest baby born on our farm but he is absolutely cute. I think he will make a good cart donkey! What a night - it was all over at midnight - though of course I stayed up to make sure everyone was nursing ok. I finally fell into my bed at 2 am.

Little Friends Naira

Date of Birth: 29. April 2011

Birth Height: 22 3/4"  - 23" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Red

Sire: Ass-pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" Light Red

Dam: Merry Go Rounds Baroness

         34" Red

Naira was the second foal to arrive that night. I was so tired and was looking forward to a few hours of sleep. I had checked on Nessie at 10 PM. At 11:30 PM my husband came home from work and checked on her again and she was in labor. She delivered her baby and the belly cord wouldn't break on its own. I rushed to the house to get some scissors when I heard grunts from the other lot - there were no jennies that were "ready" to foal that evening when I pulled the three girls out into the barn lot to watch for the night. We first took care of the belly cord since the little one was trying to get up - we took her into her stall so she wouldn't stumble into the fence. Story continued on top....

Little Friends Andina

Date of Birth: 29. April 2011

Birth Height: 21 1/2" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Dark Brown - NLP w. some mouse colored tones

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Little Friends Flopsy

         34" Dark Brown Roan

Andina was the first baby born on April 29th. She arrived at around 8:30 PM and I told my husband - good - we don't have to get up tonight. Flopsy was nice to us and had her baby at a decent time. My husband lifted her little tail twice and said that it's a little boy. I never thought to question him - he has never been wrong... but it was a little bit dark in the barn.  Well, a week later "Andino" was playing outside and I thought that this boy just didn't look right when he lifted his tail. Andino turned out to actually be "Andina". Andina is a friendly little girl and her first time mom Flopsy is a wonderful mom!

Little Friends Tayib (renamed to Max by his new owners)              - Sold -

Date of Birth: 28. April 2011

Birth Height: 21 1/2" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Brown

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2" Red

Dam: Little Friends Isabella

         32 3/4" Brown

This little boy arrived overnight - I missed his birth. He was there when my husband got up in the morning to go to work - his mom didn't seem ready the night before which sometimes happens with first time moms. Tayib is a simply adorable little boy that has so much love to give. He is a beautiful, compact little boy that is always there to get his hugs from me. His name means "good" - which fits perfectly to him.

Little Friends Cotton Tail                                                                 - Sold -

Date of Birth: 24. May 2011

Birth Height: 19 3/4" at 1 day

Foal Coat Color: gray-dun - red tones

Sire: Ass-pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" Light Red

Dam: Wind Song's Lizzy

         31" Gray-Dun

Lizzy was bred to Jolly because she always has just adorable and beautiful small foals with him. This little guy is no exception! Lizzy delivered her little boy at 11:40 PM  about 2 weeks early - I guess she still wanted an Easter baby!  It took a couple of hours for him to figure out his milk bottle but in the end it worked without any assistance. He is proud and beautiful, compact and well proportioned little guy that has that Jolly Look! Our Jolly foals will be numbered this year since he has left for his new home in Slovenia. I got just one night of good sleep last week but it's well worth it.

Little Friends Bunny                                                     - Sold -

Date of Birth: 24. April 2011

Birth Height: 22 1/4" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Gray & White Spotted - possibly frosted spotted white

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Little Friends Zykena

         34 1/2" Light Gray-Dun Roan

Zykena as well was in the barn lot because we were expecting her to have her baby within the next day or so. Of course it rained all night. We checked on her at 12:00 AM and she was absolutely content munching with the other two girls on the hay-pile. I thought she would wait until the next day to have her baby. When I checked on her in the morning - there was this cute spotted girl following her mom into the barn - just like she had been there already for a couple of days. She looks very much like Sabrina's girl - and I think this one is probably a frosted spotted white - meaning her spots will fade to white over time. She will keep her dark skin. She has beautiful dark rimmed eyes. Since she was born on Easter Sunday we have given her a fitting name.

Little Friends Emesto                                                          - Sold -

Date of Birth: 22. April 2011 - 10:30 PM

Birth Height: 20 1/2" at 4 days

Foal Coat Color: Black with stripe - NLP

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Little Friends Miss Brazil

         32" Black with Stripe

I knew we were due for some little boys and our first little boy for this year has arrived. He looks to be black but I can see a faint stripe. I think he will have the same beautiful dark color as his mother. He has a dark muzzle and belly - so he is all dark! He is a little bit shy - that is why I have not measured him yet - but we will work on that. He looks to be little - around 20 1/2" I'm guessing. We found his mother in labor shortly after 10:00 PM - I watched her quietly in the dark and when the little guy was half way delivered - his hips where still not delivered she got up and walked around with him dangling. My husband supported the baby until she then just squatted to deliver the rest of him along with afterbirth and all. We have only had a couple of moms due this over the years. Maybe she was worried about the other donkeys coming too close to her. She is a wonderful mom and takes good care of her little boy. She had lost her last baby at 10 days of age - so we are hoping very much that this time around it will be a better experience for her and her baby.  Emesto means "serious" - he got his name since he was a more serious foal. He is now enjoying his neck rubs but sometimes gets pushed away by the more attention demanding foals. I have to make sure that he gets a little bit of undivided attention every day.

Little Friends Kara

Date of Birth: 21. April 2011 - 2:00 - 4:00 AM

Birth Height: 22 1/4" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Light Gray & White Spotted - possibly frosted spotted white

Sire: Ass-pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" Light Red

Dam: Triple Creek Sabrina

         34" Gray & White Spotted

Our third spotted girl has arrived overnight - the first baby I missed this year which arrived about 2 weeks early. Sabrina was in the barn lot that she shared with a couple of other girls to keep her company. She had her baby inside the barn - and kept it there until we found her to put her into her own stall. She is being a good mom and the baby is adorable and super fluffly! Little Kara has a beautiful head with dark rimmed eyes. We are not sure if she is a masked spotted or frosted spotted white. Only time will tell.

Little Friends Malia

Date of Birth: 17. April 2011 - 11:25 PM

Birth Height: 20 3/4" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Dark Brown - masked spotting factor

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Gardner's Coconino

         31" Brown

I had been watching Coconino especially close, since I was a little bit worried about her. She seemed to carry her baby differently than the other girls - it looked like it was painfully sticking out to both sides and she never bellied down. I found her in labor at 11:15 PM and by 11:25 the baby was here - all without help - except that I broke the bag over it's nose so that it could breathe. We could not have asked for a cuter and prettier girl! She is absolutely adorable and has the cutest extension of her mane on the top of her head.

I don't know how it is physically possible to run this low to the ground ....

Little Friends Tindra                                                             - Sold -

Date of Birth: 15. April 2011 - 11:35 AM

Birth Height: 21 1/2" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: Brown & White spotted

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Delta Tina Turner

         31 1/2" Light Brown

Our first baby of the year has arrived and she is a beautiful girl! Wonderful color pattern, sweet personality - just stunning! I had watched Tina throughout the night but she waited until around lunchtime to have her little one. She was in labor when I did one of my frequent checks and shortly afterwards her little one arrived. She chose her own stall and has been very content. It's been raining almost non-stop since the baby was born - so she didn't get to have much outside time at all.
